High Efficiency Inlet Works System for Tannum Sands WWTP awarded to Hydroflux

March 13, 2025

Hydroflux has been awarded the design, supply and commissioning of new inlet works equipment for the Tannum Sands WWTP. The project will see the retrofit of new fine screening, screenings washing, grit removal and grit dewatering technology.

Two new Escamax® Through Flow Band screens will be installed to increase screenings capture. Escamax® uses perforated plates that are effective at removing solids, plastics, cotton bud sticks and other material.

“We have successfully retrofitted Escamax® to many existing inlet works where a step type screen was originally installed. Our existing references have shown that up to double the screenings are removed due to the 2D perforated panels. The through flow profile was selected as it suited the channel geometry and hydraulics.

Our installations have also demonstrated very low maintenance requirements. We have these units in operation for around 10 years, so we have seen how durable the machines are” says John Koumoukelis, CEO of Hydroflux.

Hydroflux provide coarse, fine and ultra-fine screening systems to protect wastewater treatment plant from gross solids accumulation.
