Environmental Benefits to Upgrade of Wastewater Treatment Plant
May 28, 2018
Hydroflux’s subsidiary, Hydroflux Epco recently completed the upgrade of Water Corporations Bridgetown Wastewater Treatment Plant located south West of Perth.
The upgrade means that high-quality treated waste water will be used for irrigation of the Bridgetown Golf Course. About 37 million litres of recycled water is produced each year, delivering an environmental benefit in that it reduces reliance on precious drinking water supplies.
As art of the upgrade, Hydroflux Epco installed a HUBER Ro5 Packaged Inlet Works. The packaged unit consists of a fine screening with 2mm perforations, integrated screenings washing and dewatering, integrated bypass chamber with manually raked bypass screen, horizontal grit removal traps, and horizontal and inclined grit removal screws.
“Being a packaged system, site installation works were significantly reduced,” said John Koumoukelis, Hydroflux’s Director of Global Business Development who is also a Director of Hydroflux Epco.
“Also, the hydraulics between the screenings and grit chamber is managed by Hydroflux Epco, which simplifies the installation process.“Only some minor site works were required to assemble the package,” he added.
John said that a 2mm perforation was preferred by Water Corporation to increase screening capture. >Operation is automatic via the site PLC and SCADA system. The screen operates intermittently based on level control and the grit screws are also based on intermittent timer control. Peak flow sizing is 35 L/s.
The entire system is fabricated from 316L stainless steel, including all of the internal screws.
The HUBER Ro5 Packaged Inlet Works is available in 12 sizes, from 5 through to 250 L/s.
